PM 728T and 1236T microshop build thread

Not sure what coating is on your machines, but I found for the yellow coating on my PM mill, that WD40 was the most effective. Took some time to dissolve, but cleaned nicely with the aid of a plastic razor blade and a nylon dish scrubber-sponge. (Not scotchbrite, that will scratch) Wood skewer sticks work well in tight spaces too.

Nice! Have you thought about moving the mill into the corner at a 45 degree angle? You might get a little more usable space that way.

I will check to see if that makes things better.

We managed to get the lathe in today. It was out under the crate with a tarp over it for about 2 days of rain, so condensation had put some rust spots on the cross slide. I (stupidly) hit it with a knife sharpening stone, then smartly used my Cratex block, and got rid of the rust. The scratches from the stone are still there to remind me to be more careful with nice things.

The Harbor Freight motorcycle lift put in work as the method to drop the lathe down the two steps (one from the upper patio to the lower patio, the second from the lower patio through the shop)

Any advice on how to get these scratches off?

my hat is off to you, i get exhausted just looking at the photos.
nice work.
I would not worry about the scratches, just stone them and make sure there are no ridges only valleys.
