NSFW Last Word repair

Warning: thread may contain photos that are not for the squeamish.
Hi, thank you for your help with this, when I get a replacement screw I will try this.
do you know what the thread of the pivot screw is?
Rich

I have exploded parts diagrams for most of my Starrett metrology, but not for my Last Words. I just logged onto the Starrett website, but they now say they need to review my request for access to files so we’ll have to wait until next week.

This is a long running debate, I know.

If I could only have one for the universal application, I would choose the Last word. Though a good .0001 indecator for that final touch is hard to live without.
I have both an interrapid and the last word left over from my apprentice years in my personal collection. Work only provides me with some generic Mitutoyo tube and barrle body indecator, that never gets to the tight spots.
The interapid just doesn't have that simple to use mechanical feel to it like the last word. Can't honestly give much more of a more practical explanation to the preference. The half yellow and half white display is a big bonus when upside down and in a mirror. The single action mechanism with the reversible spring is simple and intuitive once you know to keep in mind to reverse your interpretation.
