Is there anything that I need to know about Precision Matthews PM-1022V Lathe before buying?

Swing is not really quite 10” very slightly less. Even larger pass through would be nice, but many of this size are smaller.

I've been curious about that. Most of the import lathes are not quite 10", but simply 240mm or 250mm rounded up. Grizzly's 10x22 lathes list a true swing of 9.5", which is probably really 9.45" (240mm) and many others list 9.8" or 9.84" (250mm).

Few lathes are true to their named swing, some bigger some smaller.

Is the 10" just not big enough for the D1-4 connection?

It is probably just a little too small. Looking at other lathes, Grizzly's "South Bend" 10K had a D1-3 and a swing of 9.84" (9-5/6") which is probably the same as the actual swing of the PM1022. They also used the D1-3 on their 8K 8" lathe, but put a D1-4 on their Heavy 10 10.75" lathe.

The smallest lathes that I can find that offered a D1-4 are the Sheldon EL / EXL and South Bend 10L "Heavy 10" which have a swing of 10-1/8".

Most of the import 11" lathes are 280mm which is a true 11" (11.02") swing.
