I need a small workbench- buy or make?

Randy,

Very husky-looking table. You had to have good welding skills to put that together.

What do the levers on the bottom near the legs do?

Nelson

They are screw down stops to keep the casters from moving.

Thanks
Randy

Here's the small bench I made for my lathe. The frame is made from 30mm x 30mm (approx 1 1/4") square tube and the top is made of structural flooring chipboard I had left over from some home renovations. I've since added drawers underneath for my lathe tooling.

I too used 3/4 osb flooring for the top, but I figured a 2x4 frame would be plenty for my machines. ;D
Curly approved!

Nice looking table, Joe. The only thing that concerns me just a tad is the overhang, but the grinder isn't that heavy to cause a problem.

Yea, that's a concern of mine as well, I didn't want use wood to brace it-too bulky, so I figured I would wait and see.
But I don't want to be in a situation where I'm trying to bring it back to level so I'll just weld up a bracket AROUND the Curly picture of course.

I assume the bracket is screwed or bolted to the bench frame, giving you support.

Yep, I may wait on it though, I've got my mind on my next project, an "up" scaled version of my 1st project (in the engine forum) but larger and the addition of an exhaust valve. :)
