I'm new and have seen several videos of kits from Hemingway Kits. I was wondering if there were any other companies who make and sell similar kits, specifically any that are based in the US.

Metal Lathe Accessories in PA. The owner is sometimes a bit slow to respond, but his products are really nice.

We have a member here Doug Gray who sells kits, mostly small tools and tooling. He also offers plans only versions for many so you aren't paying shipping on materials.

I have a couple of MLA kits, nice stuff I found him easy to deal with.

I think this is probably something in common with a lot of these kinds of companies. Most seem to just be a guy running a side business. Upside when you send an email or make a phone call you are talking to the boss. Downside it is one guy and their real life can intrude slowing down replies.

Not sure how it might be for you in the US @greglwood but I bought the knurler kit from Hemmingway and was very impressed. Price was good and shipping was fast.

Funny you mention Hemingway. I saw for the first time their tailstock die holder. I saw a YouTube video of a chap using it. I am in the process now of trying to design one up for myself. As I live in the US it would be a bit costly. So I am opting to try and design one myself. Most likely will fail spectacularly. But that is half the fun.

35 British pounds is only $42 USD.

I'd buy from Martin Model if it was something they offer, but I live not too far away from their "corporate headquarters". As in, about an hour's drive. I won't go into all that they have, if there's any interest just go to their web site: here. I have absolutely no financial connection (and no dog in the fight), just know they have a good reputation.

Sorry guess I should have been more informative. Tools I guess you would say. Not engines or models. Thinks like tailstock die holder, knurlers, dividing head, etc. What im looking for is things I haven’t thought of yet or did not realize I could make myself.
