Today after work i wanted to see if my on the fly diagnoses were correct. My daly driver been lacking power and i've been getting worse MPG. The boost reference membrane is located on top of the fuel pump very accessible, but the screws were loctite in place, so i used the 9mm closed end wrench beaten over the screw to loosen them, took it out and it has a rip in it, big as the supply line. So i was correct, clean everything, used some high temp grease and assemble it with blue loctite. Took it on a small test drive still cold and seem a bit better especially on mid range, i'll need to build me a boost tester, just revving it i could feel air escaping.

Making an ether injection nozzle to pop in where the Donaldson teltale goes.16076397962211502689794676331171.jpg16076403756044731900742915572926.jpg

You sure you want ether? I mean, what fun is easy cold starting? I think you should run a water/methanol injector instead. It's the prudent thing to do.
Lol, I don't think my Suburban would like that any more than the fresh air from a can. It only has 4 working glow plugs, and the 120v cord for the block heater spewed blue flames where it connects to the block at some point. I'm glad it put itself out. I like my Suburban, it only has 310,000 miles on it. I plan to crank and squirt at the same time so the cylinders don't wash down.
Ok, I may have laughed a little when I wrote that.

Now I understand the need for the ether bottle. You know, a little water/methanol will blow those troublesome glow plugs right out through the tailpipe, a lot easier to get them out than doing it the old fashioned way. I hope you can find room in your little SUV to keep a spare can of ether, because once you're an ether bunny, there's no going back- you won't get it started on an August afternoon without the juice. But hey, loose high-milers are what it's for.

I made a handle with character. I really like the little knot which my thumb rests above. Keeps the hammer from flying out of hand.
That is a gnarly old handle! I like it! Curious, was the Live Oak as hard as its reputation suggested?

Finally got to the end of the cleaning stage on the Model 27 and the head is back together. Still have to set the adjustments for all of the parts so they work together properly and then on to the treadle stand. I think it shined up pretty good for an old girl, I hope the stitching will be the same.

I didn’t really keep track of hours, that’s never the point for me, but it’s probably around 150 so far. Oh, and a lot of Q-Tips... :)
