Successful gear cut, using an eighth inch end mill, took it almost 2 hrs to cut it out. It's steel, not sure what it is but it's pretty tough stuff, it turns kinda like stainless with super stringy blue chips, the metal gets hot quickly, I have about 3ft of it in 2 inch, and it's rusted on the ends, it came from a power plant so it could be some kind of alloy. Similar cutting conditions as 4140. The gear is 12 tooth 8 diametral pitch with a 1.4" od. It's not for anything, just a test. I tried to cut a 16dp on the same material which required a 3/32 end mill max and it broke lol, could have been my program or could have been the end mill was a little dull, or a combo of both.20151031_234313.jpg

"Capertown" Too funny, but I remember those as "Coppertone"

That was a young girl. Probably get you arrested today!

Finally I have something to post in this thread. Nothing yall have not seen a million times before, but it is my first (relatively) accurate endeavor. I would just like to thank everyone on this excellent site that helped make this possible. As a beginner with no formal training, I could not have made this thing without the knowledge I gained from reading yalls posts.
