Quite happy - managed to cut a matching pair of MT3 tapers - a plug and a socket - no wiggle.

Knocked up a temporary display bracket for my iGaging DRO install to use with the supplied display units until I get my TouchDRO interface built.

And built a spanner for my mill spindle (ER32 collet chuck) out of 5mm plate. Cut the basic shape on the bandsaw:IMG_0030.jpg

And after some milling, grinding, filing, drilling and blackening:

I have a spray can of a rubberised coating that I purchased some time ago and have never used so I might give that a try to coat the handle and see how it comes out.

Must say I was surprised how easily the 5mm steel cut on the new bi-metal blade in my bandsaw. Had only used it for aluminium up to now.

Looks good, Peter. How did you blacken it?

Thanks. Just the "get it red hot and quench it in old engine oil" treatment - I use it alot, another use for the casting furnace I built awhile back.
It was just made out of what I suspect is mild steel plate so I don't expect that the oil quenching has actually hardened it at all - but if it has a bit I figured that wouldn't be a bad thing.

I spent yesterday and today removing the 'carrier' for the head crank on my PM25. It's going to have a 17 mm bearing mounted in it, then a plate mounted over in carrying a motor to raise and lower the head. I'm awaiting delivery of the bearings and timing pulleys and belt. I could feel bursitis starting in my shoulder, so decided to do something about it. Matt was a great help with this project, providing parts illustrations and advice.

Making a new gear case for my lathe, I found out some truths about roughing end mills on this part, like I should have programmed at least .030 remaining stock to clean up, roughing end mills drift, also mine was on its way out so powering through a full width cut at .375 deep was the final straw for that one lol. I have to drill the mounting holes still but here's a glance. This is the first real part off the mill since the cnc conversion. I'm still getting the hang of the camware too, it's not exactly what I wanted but I haven't mastered manipulation of it yet.
