No-rust Paper

What's the difference between a refined goat, and the regular kind? Do they wear an ascot, or something?

They've been castrated (emasculated) so they don't produce as much musk. Really, I know. I used to have to emasculate them. Sorry, this topic has hijacked the no rust paper theme.

No reason you can't reuse VCI packaging paper for awhile at least.

Ditto

This link gives some basic info about packaging materials.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_packaging

Seems like that paper is intended for use as original packaging. I have always been tempted to reuse it but have no idea how long the anti corrosion protection will last. The times I have reused VCI paper were brief because it is not very durable. Because of how many other effective products are available to prevent corrosion, the merits of reusing VCI paper are not obvious.

BUT, the little VCI plastic squares that might come in the box with a tool (a caliber box for example), are kept in the box forever.

When I first opened this post & read the second thread I had no inkling was VCI stood for.
Had to 'google' that. Now I know what "Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor" is.
It's good to learn something everyday.

This http://www.tewescorp.com/vciblog/?page_id=29 discusses shelf life and service life.

[Edit] Before this discussion it had not occurred to me to reuse the stuff. I also didn't know what it was called.

Don't worry, I won't close it! This goat thing is getting interested:coffee break:

ya some time as we are grazing we just wander off to greener pastures, but eventually return.

Happy New Year all.

Thanks for the link. I guess the bottom line is that the VCI material has to surround the metal being protected. Doesn't seem like a sheet of the paper in the bottom of a toolbox drawer will do very much.
