No-rust Paper

Does VCI paper expire or dry up after a while? I bought a few sheets recently and paper seemed a bit too dry from what I've seen of other VCI paper that I've gotten tools mailed in,..?

My recommendation for rust prevention without any fuss or mess is to use CLP (Cleaner Lubricant Preservative). Yes, I've been using it in firearms for 30 years and now use it on all my milling tools. I bought 2 gallons of military surplus CLP probably 20 years ago and still have about ½ gallon left. I pour it in small bottles (empty eye drop bottles mainly). I believe Breakfree makes an equivalent product. Never had a problem with rust since I went to the product. Try it and you'll never use WD40 for rust prevention again.

wd-40 is nothing special, same as diesel fuel

i like this stuff..i brush it on

IMHO, WD40 does not prevent rust in the long run! If WD40 is left on too long, it will actually help start to rust the metal…Dave.

I use Fluid Film. It has worked great for preventing rust. Many old machinists used lanolin to protect machines, tools and metal from rust. The fluid film uses lanolin. Even if wiped off it still protects for months. The lanolin is great for dried up skin too.

It isn't anything like diesel. Diesel is actually good for removing rust. I'm pretty sure WD-40 is made with fish oil. Older people swore by it for achy joints.

For aluminum I use 10% 5W30(something close) & 90%kerosene. Works well & cost less the $4 a gallon.
