Cutting 'large' stock

I have both an abrasive chop saw and the harbor freight style 4x6 horizontal band saw.
The chop saw excels at tubing. When building a tube frame dune buggy it is my go to.
For solid stock and structural shapes it works, but it really slows down. Also does hardened steel that the band saw cant touch. You can't push too hard, have to keep the rpms up.

Did I mention it is really LOUD and throws dust and sparks EVERYWHERE.

If I could only have one I would take the band saw and toss the chop saw in the skip.

My biggest concern with an abrasive cutoff saw is the heat generation. Right at the cutting surface it can get hot enough to change physical properties of some metals and alloys.

I've got a Fein metal cutting chop saw and haven't used my abrasive blade saw in 2+ years. Still on original blade in Fein. Yesterday I cut a piece of 1"x4" hot rolled bar cuts like butter. I've got the harbor freight band saw but between the chop saw and a Milwaukee porta-band saw, I rarely use the horizontal bandsaw. My porta-band is mounted on a Swag Offroad table and really handy.
