Youtube is painful these days.

Had to bail on chrome today.
Last night, they disabled a bunch of my extensions saying they were malware... one blocked youtube shorts.
They were not malware, they were just distasteful to google. I re-enabled it, and it disabled it again.
It then repeatedly started not responding anymore. And the memory usage soared.
They have become overbearing to the max.

Firefox is on again, and it's going to be a learning curve. Each time in the recent years I found liked chrome better. I was a netscape user back in the early days, and when netscape went away I was a firefox user.. Loved it back then. But chrome worked it's way into my system because firefox was so far behind... well chrome has become the darth vader.. The overlord is being kicked out.

Brave will automatically copy over all your bookmarks when it loads and sets up
Turned out I just needed to ad the you tube blocker ap now the ads are gone again.
So I still haven't actually used brave to browse or anything.

same with FF. I added U Block Origin.. that's what blocked the emoji's from coming up. I disabled it for this site. Not sure yet what was going on with the emoji, but none of the other pop ups that I have tried are having a problem. I am still not sure how to whitelist and control filters and rules for U Block, but it's doing a very good job on Youtube so far. And my memory consumption is less than 1/2 of chrome. 1.2gb at a full run, vs it hit 4gb on chrome today.

For those who don't know: Brave *is* Firefox (a modified version). It's chief advantage is that it comes pre-configured with certain privacy settings. Its chief disadvantage is that it comes pre-configured with certain privacy settings...

I've read some stuff about Brave that I didn't like. Like it deciding to show you replacement ads sometimes. Many deemed that illegal to replace your own ads over another advertisers content. I have to agree. Don't show it ,or show the original. Do not replace. It also seems to have some spying issues according to one article I read.

I live a text-based existence... Whut's this tube thing y'all's keep going on about?
If only some of the great resources on YT would commit to writing... At least pre-internet, when editors were a thing, the written word was far more succinct than much of the prolixity on YT driven by their monetization algorithms.

It's gotta be more than editorial grace behind the fact that I've learned more about machining from Karl Moltrecht than from Adam Booth. I know my grey matter is flawed beyond the reach of the best pharmaceuticals, but I can nose into a book for hours while I'm doomed to glaze over and croak in the first 30 seconds of watching tube media. Well, unless there's boobs. I can watch those and forget to blink.

The fast flicking of images on the PC seems to be all about ruining our short term memory facebook,Tik Tok, Instagram. etc.
Like Television Programed us as youngsters.
