I have been looking at used CNC mills for the past year. Our local used market is abysmal and ebay hasn't been much better. Defeated, I recently decided to buy a PM940V and an Arizona CNC conversion kit. I was literally hovering over the buy button last night when I thought I'd check craigslist, FB marketplace and ebay one last time.@coolidge -Details! What is that? What is your plan for it?
Sweet!I have been looking at used CNC mills for the past year. Our local used market is abysmal and ebay hasn't been much better. Defeated, I recently decided to buy a PM940V and an Arizona CNC conversion kit. I was literally hovering over the buy button last night when I thought I'd check craigslist, FB marketplace and ebay one last time.
Out of nowhere this CNC bed mill appears on ebay only 1 hour from my house. It's a 1996 Taiwan Chevalier 2040. 6,600 lbs 5hp 3 phase. Heavy duty box ways on Y and Z. It's a 40 taper spindle. Variable speed belt drive from 80-4000 rpm. Automated lubrication system. The head is already counterweighted. The CNC controls and pendant while old still work. A massive 13x50 inch table, the Y saddle is gigantic. Table travels are 20" on Y, 40" on X and 24" on Z.
So $3,300 delivered into my garage man I could not say no. That's 1/3 the cost of other bed mills in my area with free delivery. This will be a fun project!
It's 8 feet tall and the column is massive.
A Milwaukee Packout first aid box to store my Peppa Pig plasters in
Now that is a beast of a CNC Mill.
Was thinking about this watching you mount the index on the mill in you YT channel. My guess is a jib crane for the shop. At least that is what I would build.Scored at the scrap yard. Guess what I am building?
