What Did You Buy Today?

Finally decided to sort the 1100W motor kit for the lathe I am rebuilding. Came in at £230. I know this motor will fit the bedway, so no issues there, just have to ensure I sort the pulley to match the spindle size, with I doubt is going to be an issue. Now all I have to do is wait for the thing to arrive before fitting it.

See HERE (<<< LINK) for the rebuild thread.

Another tool haul from the U.S., most of the stuff being new old stock :grin: This time I got a bunch of Bonanza Sports gunsmith screwdrivers, an Anson PDR dead blow hammer, a set of Robertson screwdrivers by Enderes Tool Co. and a Vermont American broken screw extractor kit :geek:

Photos? And where did you find these goodies??

@4WHLDRFTN

The bottom plate should have a bare metal surface like the table since they are also intended as a mounting surface for larger setups, though I do understand why you painted it to protect it ;)

Very nice resto and very clean finish too.

Nope. They were painted and not milled.

That is wierd. Every bench mount Drill Press / Pillar drill (uk term) I have seen or used has had an unpainted base that can be used as an additional mounting surface. Not like it needs to be perfectly flat either if you are mounting a vice to it.

Why else would they machine it the same way as the table with the slots and central hole. Heck, I have even used the base for a few setups on a a number of bench mounted drill presses over the years when needing to drill into a long piece of stock or an awkwardly long/awkwardly shaped part. I simply swung the table round out the way and got on with the work.
