my Proxxon is much slimmer than yours. I assume yours has more power maybe. I did note that they had 2 sizes. If I didn't already have the Foredom, I might have purchased the larger model. I prefer corded power on tools that I use infrequently as I worry about battery life when they don't get used much, but with lithium that seems to be less of an issue. that old dremel is awesome. another great company that has gone to crap.My original Dremel (280, vintage late 60's) only has two speeds, On & Off:

(also have an older 280, probably 1950's:

I have a sewing machine foot treadle speed control to adjust the speed on these and other small Universal Motor driven tools.
My Proxxon IBS/A is battery powered, but is identical to the AC-powered version, and has solid state speed control. While it has a single control for power & speed, the switch is on the back of the potentiometer and the current is low so I'm not concerned about it's life (most likely will outlive me at this point).

that's a dream grinder right there. I have 2 machines on similar pedestals. the grey one is from 1963, the green one is 1979. they are such nice castings.Waited a long time for 15% off and finally bought the Baldor stand and got my grinder up off the floor.
