What Did You Buy Today?

Finally received the angle wheel dresser for the surface grinder.
Oh man, this it the machinist I will never be. This is gorgeous. The lapping on this is outstanding.
It feels like a silicone damped tool for the angle adjustment. So silky smooth with just the right amount of dampening.
I don't know how the angle is held together, taking the knob off does not allow it to come apart. I suspect the screw to hold the slider in attaches to it and holds it together. This is so well made. And yes, it's not a sine dresser, but I may learn a lot with this.

Definitely do not ‘need’ these, but definitely wanted them. I keep an eye on eBay almost daily to see prices of things and look for any bargains. I saw the same seller selling a Tapmatic SD5 and SD7. They were cheap as it was, but I made a low ball offer and won them:

They certainly have been used a fair bit, but are supposedly in good working order. From research, they both use two different size of rubber collets, one for the first half of sizes in their respective range, and one for the larger half of their range. They both only came with one collet each, so I need to buy the other one. Prices from Tapmatic for those are pretty high, but I think I’ve found some aftermarket options at a better price.

There was also a 50x for sale for a reasonable price and I believe the difference between the SD5 and the 50x is that the 50x has the ability to set the torque, where as the SD5 you have to get the rpm correct for the tap size. I decided on the SD5 as could get that and the SD7 for 2/3rds the price of the 50x

Four new tires for my old beater...

Geez... tires have become expensive...

The old tires were 6 years old with around 70,000 miles... there was still 1/8" of tread above the wear indicator bars but they had thousands of hairline cracks in the rubber. I decided to be safe and replace them.

I would have preferred to get another 30,000 miles out of them but didn't want to push my luck.

toys are pretty good on tires. American trucks... not so good on tires, or many other things.

I'm jelly about the tapomatics. I tend to drill over a dozen tap holes each time I do one. It would be so much easier to have a tapomatic.

I made an impulse buy last Sunday. I don't need it. And, really, I wish I hadn't already bought my son his Xmas gift but this was an amazing deal.
Brand new, in the box, still with original tape and shipping label.

Elegoo - Neptune 4 3d printer. I got it for $200

The plan is to make a 6'x12' table/board out of 2" thick foam panel (to keep it all as light as possible) and place the Carrera 1:24 slot track on it... Hanging it all from the garage ceiling.

Lift arrived. Capacity of 300lbs.
