Thermolyne Heat Treat Oven Issues

my control took a dump on my thermolyne and burnt out one of the elements. i had two new spares but not one to replace the bad one. my furnace looks newer than yours and my elements are obsolete. i found one only on ebay but that got it back working. i put a pid in mine at the same time

I've been searching the interwebs and found THIS. It would appear to be the right physical size and ohms for my oven.

Rated Voltage/Power: AC220V 3000W / AC110V 750W; Resistance: 15-16ohm.
Wire Diameter: 1.2mm/0.047"; Coil Diameter: 7.2mm/0.28"; Length: 800mm/31.45"

My oven takes 2 loops at 26" each (13.5" one way) in series so stretched it should fit and it is within the ohm rating I'm looking for (~15 ohms for ~15 amps draw). Unless you guys have a gotcha I missed I'm going to order it. My main question is: Can I weld the leads from the old element (see pic) onto the new one with my MIG welder?

You can weld nichrome to steel just fine. Makes a nice weld.

That element looks awful small for your muffle furnace. I'd expect to find a minimum of 8 passes in the chamber on one that size. It's certainly the case on newer Thermolynes.
