Hello everyone. I hope all is well. Had a question that I can’t seem to find the answer to, so I was hoping someone here had done this before. Swapping motors on my enco 12 x 36 from a 1hp 143T base to a 2 hp 145TC base. It’s my understanding that everything should line back up with the exception of two of the bolt holes. Wondering if anyone has tackled this before and if so, what do you do to get the spacing right? Do I mill the other two holes to a slot or what? Trying to get an idea before I remove anything. Thanks

What brand of motor are we talking about?
Some brands have the same foot bolt pattern between the 142t and 142tc .

Otherwise you can slot or put holes where you want, just leave sufficient material if you’re going to be close to an edge.
If the motor mounting plate is accessible, you could drill and tap holes that don’t line up

On second thought, I’m not sure if I can make this motor even work. The electrical box is on the wrong damn side. Gonna have to heave it up in there and see if it will clear. If it does, I will have to wire it off the machine and then reinstall it. Here’s a few pictures of what I’m seeing. The motor mounted right up to the base however, so that’s a plus. This base has four mounting holes

It’s a baldor motor that I’m trying to install

About to call it a day. I just wanted to try to fit it to the base tonight. Guess I did that but probably all for nothing, lol. I appreciate your help though

Maybe- if the stator and mount are equidistant from each end then yes, you could

If you were so inclined, you could disassemble the motor and swap proximity of the drive end and fan end and reassemble the motor with the electrical enclosure on the opposite side.
I thought about that but wasn’t sure about the stator as mark mentioned. Hell, it’s worth a shot I guess. I’m gonna see if it clears the way it is and if not, I will attempt to swap the locations. I will keep you guys informed on what’s going on though. Thank you

Kind of makes me wonder what the hell this motor came off of. It’s super versatile in the way it can be mounted so hopefully the internals are the same way

Well, I decided to pull the fan cover and see what there was to see on this Baldor motor. Looks like it has a different shaft diameter on the fan end. Which is strange. What’s the chances that this shaft could be turned and stuck in the opposite direction, totally reversing both end caps? Forgive me if that’s a dumb ass question but I’m not an electrical engineer, lol. If that’s not doable what if I used say a 90 degree gland nut and pre bent conduit to cheat the wires where they need to be? Just brainstorming ideas here. Here’s what im Seeing
