Show us your hardware organization

The examples for the lift that I should have used were these. Probabley a little more fitting, they are the unloading of just purchased goodies.

Now, back to topic!

Great pictures with a lot of common themes. My problem is not trying to come up with a new way to store hundreds of different things. My problem has always been trying to classify all the stuff. There are so many different things I need to lump some things together. I simplified the wood screw problem by tossing anything that is not Robertson before it even gets into the garage. I am stumped when it comes to bolts etc. I have metric and imperial needs. By the time you add odd ball nuts like wing nuts and self locking nuts, several washer types, cap screws, socket head screws, different lengths, different grades, different threads and diameters, countersunk etc. you end up with a lot of combinations. I will finally get something sorted and have, for example, one of those compartment boxes with the plano hinge lid when along comes a large box of, say, 3/8 nuts. 90% of the compartments have 3 things in them and one is overflowing by a factor of 10. Right now I have a big box in the basement for the overstock and keep restocking the compartment box from it but now the basement is starting to look like what the shop did before the compartment boxes. Any ideas? How about some pictures that show all the labels?

I’m on the same mission. I’m trying to get a massive collection of hardware highly organized. Currently the most efficient use of space I have found is using little trays in these Stanley Vidmar / Lista toolboxes. It holds unbelievable amounts of hardware. I’m trying to figure out how to maximize it further because even now there is wasted space. I’m thinking next i might 3d print trays custom designed for each set of nuts/bolts.

Here’s what I’ve done! I still need to figure out a way to label the bins, as I’ve divided most of them :distant:

In case you’re wondering, below is a link to the product. Fantastic stuff :encourage:
