Shop mats

I have 6 of those in the link Dabbler posted, bought 4 of them 10 years ago from Home Depot but the last time I checked HD, their prices went way up , almost tripled.
Luckily I found them at a reasonable price at Pa and bought two more, they are exactly as Dabbler described, hard with some give , if too hard, they become almost useless , their best feature is the small holes that can catch any screws rivets I drop and normally never find :) .

I have bad feet, this one has added to my ability to stand in the shop longer.

My weight is just stacked taller:)

Another option is horse stall mats sold at the farm and fleet stores. They are made from recycled rubber and are super tough and heavy.
The one I have is 4'x5' and is about 30lbs.

Another head slapping moment. I've been thinking about something to stand on in front of my lathe and/or mill. Your comment just reminded me that I have a large piece of horse stall mat left over from making motor home jack pads. Thanks!

Bevel the edges somewhat if possible or you may find yourself tripping on them.
Just sayin'

You read my mind; easy to do as simple as I am. Thanks

I like "Dri-Dek" (that's a brand, but there are equivalents). You can get beveled edges, and any of it in color (I use black, with yellow edges). It doesn't feel soft, but it definitely reduces fatigue from standing, and it's great for keeping chips out of the house.
