Erasing 200 years of history

A friend of a friend picked up some smaller logs yesterday. He owns a small homemade sawmill with a size limit of 16". Today I loaded seven logs up to 40" in Diameter by 8' long on my flat bed trailer. I've been searching for a saw mill to cut them up into usable boards. No luck so far. May have to get into the logging business myself.. For now I'll just store them on this trailer in one of my off premise garages... there's some serious weight here...

One of the companies that makes portable band saws "Woodmizer" might be able to direct or provide contacts for someone local.
I think for that little amount of wood, you'll want to go to them. If you had a lot more, having them come to you makes better sense.

Call Woodmiser, I suspect they may know where you can find one.

Great minds think alike, had I flipped the page I'd have seen your comment and saved myself some typing.

Woodmizer is a good company to work with. I am sure that a local dealer can refer you to someone who can help you out.

I've wanted a sawmill for years now . Woodland Mills up in Canada is now offering free shipping for their products . 2 of my buddies have Woodmizers somewhat local but I've never seen them in person . As I can get logs of any size delivered free of charge here in Md , I wouldn't have to go pick them up . But I do stare at sawmills daily and think what I could do up at camp with one . :encourage:

I have seen the wood mizers many times. They have many different models. At one point I thought about it. But reality set in. I like woodworking. I'll leave the milling to someone else. I buy from a guy who for the longest time was using a chainsaw to mill. He finally bought a woodmizer and is loving life.

Wife said I can get one when everything else leaves ............................maybe 30 years from now . I'm in need of a 24' enclosed trailer at the moment if anyone comes across one . Really not in the mood to drive down to Georgia at this time .

Dave, I think you need a few 50 foot containers on the ground...
24' won't do it.

I would get a 40 footer up in NY in a heartbeat if the wife would agree to it ! :encourage: I have to start moving the daughter out to her new place this weekend hence the enclosed trailer . There is a guy 5 miles away with a brand new 20 footer that I'm looking at now . I would love to have the extra 4 foot but I'm kinda in a bind for time .
