Preparation is good and prudent but in my experience when a serious injury occurs, people tend to grab what's readily available.
When my friend blew his finger off with an M-80, I used my shirt.
When my business partner sliced off the side of his finger on the bandsaw one of our employees grabbed a stack of C-fold towels from the bathroom dispenser, despite there being a fully stocked first aid cabinet right next to it.
And when my fingers collided with a panel saw blade, my shirt (a different one) was again the bandage of choice, and yeah, the aforementioned first aid cabinet was close by....

My shop/shed is about 75' out the back door of our house and I have been thinking about a hands free communications system with my wife and the voice activated Amazon Echo Dot may be a good solution.
