Shizuoka manual mill help

Looking for something else on YouTube I came across this:

I think you have a superb machine in your shop now. Happy to see this thread as there is not many owners of those beauties. I bought mine (mfg 1972) in 2016 and i'm till now amazed each time i'm working on it. Looks like you have a version with short t-table. There was two versions 1100mm and 1300 mm long tables (800 mm and 1000 mm power feed respectively). Just for the reference i attach the link to polish forum, where is put my short story about putting DRO on my Shizuka VHR-G. I'll put some photos here for reference. If you have more photos of internals i'd be VERY interested to see them. For the moment i had no need to dismantle my machine but i'm VERY curious the mechanisms under its table - namely split nut. I'm thinking about converting my mill to CNC but fixed lead screw is complicating things.

Hi, thanks for the great pictures of your mill, and installation of the DRO. I have decided to go with Touch DRO, a tablet based system, my scales are ordered. I have the head gearbox and top of the mill reassembled, all new bearings installed for the back gear box, and pulley. I found several issues that needed to be addressed before disaster struck. I have removed the table feed gearbox cover, and cleaned/flushed it completely, the "oil" looked like a sludge mess, that would have ruined bearings and gears over time. All fluids are getting changed, remove the broken oil feed lines are getting replaced, and both oiling systems are getting repaired. Next step is to remove the table to clean the oil channels on the ways and repair as necessary the oiling system for it. I will post pictures of the mechanism that moved the table, I have a good idea how it works already. There won't be a part of this mill that I haven't touched and cleaned/serviced, I have already used at least 6 gallons of Simple Green degreaser already. The sump was a horrible mess of a oily sludge mess, that is still being cleaned. The whole mill will be cleaned once, then I plan on getting it dirty, as I have many projects lined up.

PS, I need a arbor support for the horizontal part of the mill, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Glad I found this discussion. I recently purchased a Shizuoka ST-N And looking for information and a manual for it. Lathe UK doesn’t list that particular model but maybe I can find something close. Machine was formerly equipped with a Bandit CNC. I need to add power feed and a DRO. Machine is in great condition I believe from the 90s. It Has ball screws that some have said might present some problems used as a manual machine but so far have not seen any movement of the tables when climb milling.

You can get one straight from Shizuoka. They don't send electronic copy, just printed book by Japanese Post. The book contains all the cross section drawings, part list and instruction manual. It wasn't expensive some years ago.

Edward2541: nice work done! Can't wait to see detailed photos.

Thank you for the info! I just sent a request for manuals straight from Shizuoka, I have searched elsewhere, but no luck except a not very good parts manual
