Seeking laser pointer for drill press center

My first post on this board. I did a quick search prior to posting this, but I didn't see anything so I'll ask: Can anyone suggest a laser pointer expressly made to attach to a drill press, for the purpose of showing where the center of a drill bit will begin penetrating the work? My drill press is just a bench-top Delta, so I guess I'm not looking to break the bank for an accessory like this - just a reasonable quality device for a reasonable price.

Thanks in advance,

I have one of those that chucks in the drill chuck. But,I can't say it has accuracy to suit me. The dot is too big to get within .010". I cannot remember the brand name. Try Googling it.

I think this is one of those cases where high tech isn't necessarily better.
If you want to accurately see where the chuck is centered you just need to mount a scriber in it and lower it to the work.
The scriber point is much narrower than a laser dot.

And if you punch with a center first, your drill bit will find the hole. Again, much more accurate than the laser.

I tried one of those and didn't like it much too inaccurate

Went to old fashion wiggler type

Yes, much better as long as your scribe is straight. You can always spin the scribe under power to see if it runs true.

Yes, this too. Punch, center drill, then drill. Which is normally the way I do it.

The only time I use mine is when helping my wife to drill reasonably accurate locations for stone bezels on a master model for a piece of jewelry she's going to put into production. It's accurate enough for that, and this is a job where I don't want to spend a lot of time precision locating a bunch of bezels. The maker claims he's made the laser dot smaller now,but I'm not buying another. The dot really isn't big,but machine work is just normally more accurate than the dot provides. As a matter of choice,I always work to .001" even if not necessary because I'm too OCD not to!:)

I consider those lines VERY FAT. Are they accurate enough for your purposes? I won't even use the laser line that came on my chop saw.

George, that's just to show you where not to put your fingers.:nono:
