I noticed Schaublin lathes have a cross slide where the hand wheel is mounted on the moving part.
I don't think it's exclusive for Schaublin and I don't know a name for it.
I wonder why it's done this way, if it has any inherent advantage (and possibly trade-off?). I'd appreciate any clue/information on the subject.
Thanks!

PS: I link a page from lathes.co.uk to illustrate what I mean https://www.lathes.co.uk/schaublin65&70/

EDIT: Changed handle for hand wheel

Sorry. I meant the hand wheel to move the the cross-slide, on schaublin it moves with the slide, as opposite to "normal" cross slides where the hand wheel is mounted on the saddle.
EDIT: changed handle for hand wheel

Never paid it any mind but they are the same as the Hardinge cross slides and compounds .
