POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

For this, I’d buy a pair of identical gauge pins from McMaster, and leave them with the collet block. They are only a few bucks bought singly. I filled in some gaps in the used Ralmike’s set of .250-.500 pins that I bought for cheap on eBay. I was surprised by how cheap the replacements were.

But I don’t have collet blocks. I do have a super spacer :)

I just used a pair of end mills. 3/8" seemed to be the right number for my collet blocks...

When I got my 5C collet blocks I tested to see if they were reasonably true. I splurged and bought one high quality collet and a piece of ground tool steel to fit the collet. It served as my test reference and my arbor for some minor truing of the blocks.

Nice streamliner so far. Are you adding beaded edging, leaving the corners square or making the panels round edged?
That panel isn’t finished. All the edging is rolled The corners? Welp we’ll see what works when I get there. :dunno: I have a few dif pieces made already.
Those bars are just for moving it around. They’ll flow out of the turret that covers the top trip tree

Aah, I can see the slight compound curves in that photo. should be a beauty when finished.

I have to ask though, is it split for easy removal for maintenance or do you have panels/hatches in mind?

There's only two things I'm afraid of. Women and the chips from side milling!
Yea, both will own you.
but you do your best to control the reprecussions... in the case of side milling, I learned to blow with the mister the chips away from me. I think I did it dry, but with air on. I also ran a vac to catch as much as possible.

The women, just nod your head, they always think they are right, and trying to convince them otherwise is an effort in futility. Or.. they always think you are wrong...

Unless they are like my missus, who is just as mad as I am, understands why I do what I do, why I need and have the tools I have and not only actively supports it, but finances it to a degree too.

Win-Win for me.

Yes, I am expecting to see the "you suck" board. Yes, I can understand why some might be of that opinion. All that means is, you have not found the "perfect" partner, at least, not the way I see it.
