POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

Not today and the machine tools only played a supporting role -

Took a x700 series John Deere and added 2 extra hydraulic spools making it an H4. Changed the factory valve to joystick controlled and connected the original dash levers to the additional 2 spool valve. Converted the pin on bucket to JDQA so i can change between the bucket, home made grapple or forks in a few minutes. The lathe and mill were used to create pins, bushings, and other assemblies needed for the attachments and modifications. Full build thread is here with many additional details if anyone is interested. I purchased the machine tools to make fabrication easier and the end product more refined and i have been pretty successful. I built the grapple for the sole purpose of this large brush clean up job and it worked amazingly well. Here's the grapple in action:

Went to an estate sale two weeks ago and bought a bag of old American files for $5. Some didn't have have handles, so I made some out of 1-1/4" oak rounds or 3/4" oak rounds and 1/2" or 3/8" copper tubing couplers.

Took woodchucker’s advice and put a small exhaust fan in one of the gable vents of my shed. Just a cheap solar and battery powered fan off Amazon, but it moves a reasonable amount of air. I’ll see how it does and if needed add some insulationIMG_3786.jpegIMG_3787.jpegIMG_3788.jpeg

Made USB socket charger mount for the boat.

Started with a 2 1/2" square of 1/2" thick cutting board.
Pretty close to the max for the Sherline, had to saw and sand the corners off to clear the bed.

Using an existing hole in the dash.Thickness of the fiberglass varies so it's a bit shy of flush. Will paint the interior rim of the cutout to lower the contrast.

Seems it's been a long time coming -guess I need to stay home more - but finally finished. Well, I think it's finished. I wanted a finger brake, did/do I need a finger brake? No. Now I have something else to find a place for it to be stored. And it ain't light! Used 6 inch channel, 3/4 x 3 inch bar, some 3/8th inch plate, and some 1.5x 1/4 & 3x3x1/4 angle. It's 36" wide, with 2",3",4",6", and 12" fingers. Made a test bend, worked. Guess that's a win. Now, figure out where to store it, lol.

Let me help you out.

I've got a place you can store it and still use anytime you want.

Nice job

One messy job completed yesterday . Did the rear differential in the truck . Nice working conditions .........95 degrees on an asphalt driveway . Was going to put new pads on the 4Runner rears today but currently watching the storms coming . Ordered the window motor for the Honda for another day when I'm bored . LOL , I thought retirement was suppose to be easy .
