POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

I had written a long description to accompany the photos in my post above, but some how it was lost and i couldn't figure out how to edit it in. So to clarify this is a repair to a DEF tank pump's fragile original fitting that breaks off all too easily. A new pump is $500.00 so i had to figure out a fix. i have made fittings out of aluminum, brass, stainless, and final design Delrin. The picture shows the first one made from aluminum.

I had to replace one once when I had the diesel X5.... not a fun task...

On other news... not much time to do anything last night. I did manage to clear the threads for the base plate that holds the extension on the Walker-Turner bandsaw.

I first tried compressed air, WD-40 but none of that worked. No wonder, the hole was really plugged with carp.

Looks like the same thing. Most of the imports anyway use Bosch parts. The DEF heater in a BMW X that we did lately was the one from the Touarag. BMW did not show an interchange but parts suppliers did, and it fit perfectly. Injectors and everything looks alike.
 
Great work... Dumb question, stress proof as opposed to stress re-leaved?
Alloy 1144 is called 'stress proof' steel. Typically delivered in a heat treated state, it moves very little when machined. I actually like machining it, but IIRC it's not super cheap. It's great if you need to remove a lot of stock from a part without much warping due to internal residual stresses in the raw stock.

Thanks for the concern, the modified press is in the corner, secured to the wall with a chain and tool box moved to a temp. location.. I've only shipped a car once, maybe 15 yrs ago. Trying the get the new 'project' car shipped from AL to FL, have got a price, a confirmed pickup time, then a cancel. Again, got a price, but suddenly the price has gone up 100+%. This is frustrating. Oh, I did actually do something - madey a couple chuck key handles for leverage and to help with arthritic hands. Now to get the bearings to make the skates to lower the tool box so it will fit under the bench. Making space for the new GT6 project

Thank you for answering that, as I didn't have the answer to VBW's question. Just was following a recommendation from a friend when I explained my application. My buddy's recommendation seems to have been spot on, and learned a bit in the process.

Triumph? What engine are you gonna swap in?
Oh My! Thanks for asking. TBH, don't know. So far, thought about a Zetec mated with a T5 transmission, or maybe a Miata engine/transmission. Will check the original engine/transmission out, and possibly leave as is. Have you got any suggestions? While a LS or a BMW engine swap sounds nice, Don't want to go that drastic.
