POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

I made a dial for the lead screw I made for my Hardinge DV-59 lathe. Just need to stamp numbers on it.

Made a bump roller from the one guide that was on my homemade steady rest that came with my lathe. Just had to mill it square.

Finished an indicator holder for the mill.

Those all look great. I really like your indicator holder. You had a very busy and productive weekend in the shop.

Great job!

Cutting oil is my blood.

she can use it to paint one of the bedroom walls.

You could always "drop" the leftover paint. The cleanup might be easier than looking at one Lavender wall!

HAHAHA! I like that idea.

Continued working on the vise caddy for the mill. The part that will clamp in the vise is being milled down to size.

Also played with the new (to me) brake rotor lathe. Lots of trial and error with setups, speeds and feeds all part of the learning curve.

Making chips is always fun!

So many brake lathes that come up for sale... always wondered if there was something that those could be used for besides just turning rotors...

Will finish up one of the gates on the fence today . I was considering buying 1/2-13 all thread or 6" bolts but then remembered all my mill clamps and studs out in the Vidmars . They will work great and they wont cost me dime . Plus , they leave the Vidmars . :encourage: Off to Homey Repot for a 4x4x8ft .

Bought a PITTSBURGH PRO 3/8 in. Drive Quick-Release Swivel Head Ratchet from HF and decided to customize the handle.
I chiseled off the rubber and green plastic and turned a new one out of some black Delrin
Under the original plastic handle was basically a round shaft about 0.48 in diameter with a couple of ears pinched in the side.
After drilling a hole in the new handle, I heated up the shaft with a propane torch, pressed it on and cooled it under some running water.
It came out very tight and secure.
The Delrin takes a knurl quite well with a cut-knurling tool.
It's my new "Machinist" ratchet

Mostly cleaning up spring time stuff. Tilling gardens, picking rocks, feeding bloodsucking bugs, cleaning up some trees and cutting/splitting firewood. Basically anything to not have to work on the crane project right now. Must be burned out on that projects. lol.

Did spread and till in 4 tons/acre of lime into the new garden plot, too.

At one point, I did take the most "Windows XP" photo ever!
