POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

Nothing big, but something I'm pleased as punch about - I cut and programmed a new let for The Fungus. Bought a key fob blank from eBay, then spent a fruitless hour driving around trying to find someone to cut it for me. All the was were those minutekey places that only work with their own blanks or call out locksmiths that wanted to charge me $200.

So bugger it, I'll do it myself. Traced the outline with a scribe into some sharpie, roughed it out with a Dremel and then tweaked it with a file. Took a few goes but it works! Programming was a cinch too. Now we have three keys, so if we lose one we can program a new one

Project for the last couple days. Finally ran 3 phase power to my hobby shop. I have 3 phase in the main shop which we ran a few years ago. Ran a separate 100 amp service and can finally get rid of the phase converter in my hobby machine shop.
Cheers
Martin

Made this quick-and-dirty hammer rack a couple of days ago. I had a scrap piece of 4" angle iron - no idea where I got it/how long I've had it/why it's in the grungy shape it's in, but it's been sitting in my scrap metal pile for a few years. I decided to use it to make a rack for several of my hammers that have been completely occupying a drawer in one of my tool cabinets. This was not a particularly complicated build - I simply lined up hammers in the order I wanted to hang them, measured how wide the slot needed to be for each one, hogged out as much material as I could, then finished the slots with a 1/2" end mill. I thought about trying to grind it down to clean metal, but in the grand scheme of things, it looks pretty good as it is. Plus, it freed up a full drawer in one of my cabinets - room for more tools! (Lucky me.)

Regards

Another project that has occasionally been needed, a follow rest. Having looked at pictures of other shop-built ones and having a good place to mount it that is only a little offset from the tool area, I built this to be sturdy enough for that rare tough job. This lathe has a 17" swing and total between centers is 54". The main members are 1" solid bar and the rest is what was on hand. There was no expenditure of money.
Thanks
Aaron

Got a Starrett No.454 height gage in a small lot and it was missing the clasp to connect scribes and such. So I made one out of brass and steel.

For those wondering if the Atlas milling attachment is useful on the 10F, I used it to make this brass part.

I haven't used the stand yet, but figured I needed the clasp first. I need to find a scribe for this as well.
