Very nice. I've been planning to make one like this for a while now. My planer blades are just over 20 inches. Was going to use linear bearings from the CNC router world, as I need closer to 4 feet. Was going to also do wet stone wheels. Will work for planer, jointer and chisels. At least, that's the dream.

Thanks Rudy, I spaced the linear bearings about 6 inches apart, plus your blade length you should only need 28 inch rails to clear the ends of the blades. The white stones don't generate much heat, along with the smooth movement you can move quite quickly and not harm the blades.

Hi all, love the project............
as for the bellows, just a suggestion, we use "silcone steering rack boots" they'd have to be off a Euro car....very soft and supple.....I can almost remember being supple myself......hahaha......don't know about your modern domestic auto's anymore......Failing that I'm sure you'll be able to locate an associated engineering parts warehouse on line over there selling the silicone gaiters and all sorts......they are used everywhere in all kinds of machines.....I have a hard catalogue somewhere if you need me to look......
