Got the carbide fly cutter pictured within. I need to buy some new cutters, carbide inserts. My question is, how do you measure these for purchase... or are they sold in a numbered size or just how do you size these things

That's a indexable insert facing mill and not a fly cutter . Inserts are readily available . :)

Yeah Mike , sorry , answered in a hurry . Just measure them up and check the charts for what size they are . We can't see the pics and give you the information you're asking . You could try to google the cutter and it may provide the correct insert size .

There's a lot of information on LMS on the size, relief angle, corner radius, etc. for hobbyists like myself:

They look like TPG or TPU inserts. The size of the insert (US practice) is determined by the size of the inscribed circle in 1/8" increments. Check with a 3/8" pin. It should be tangent to all 3 sides of the triangle. That would make it A TPG or TPU 32*. The last digit indicates the corner radius in 1/64" increment. A larger radius will improve finish and tool life.

Carbide Depot has charts describing the different types of inserts and how to decode the letter/number designation.

That's a Grizzly facemill. Can use Grizzly inserts or TPMN321. I bought some Mitsubishi carbide off of Ebay and might have given $2 each. NOS.
I would bet some TPGT321's would leave an amazing finish. Just depends on what your cutting. I've got some Kennametal TPGN321's on mine now that do well.
