Need some creative ideas for a gate latch

I’m back on the gate latch.
The customer is very happy. This gate is made like Fort Knox. It’s rock solid. It rolls beautifully!

Those of you who contributed ideas, thank you.
Right or wrong, this is where I am, see pics.
I need to add a latch.

Now that it’s built, I’m done and ready to move on except I need a latch.
What do you think?

Your gate slides to stop against a flat.

Pocket door does same.

Well stocked old school hardware stores have lots of options as well as huge catalogs.

Our RV has oak doors with nice brass latches that would work well here.

My neighbor has one. She sleeps all day so she can be up all night just watching and listening in the back yard. Cool

Your idea about pocket latch may just be my breakthrough.
A simple gravity fed lever that clicks into place. Then just lift the lever while pulling the gate back.

How securely does it need to latch? You could use rare earth magnets to hold it closed and add a simple lever to break it free.

The details are important, so top it off with a hood ornament of some kind- whatever your customer is into. As a gearhead, I would like a combo wrench as a latch pull. If I were a bowler, I might turn a little ball and pin. If I were a lawyer, I might like a little cutout steel silhouette of a client's pocketbook to grab onto and yank. If I were a dentist, I might like my gate latch to be trimmed with a brass boob to grope while my patients are knocked out. You know, go with a theme!
