Need more tool holders

Or lower the tool seat by 0.060” to allow 1/2” shanked tools to work on your machine. Set up the tool post and tool holder maybe with a spacer to raise the holder to allow an end mill in a tool holder on the spindle to remove the required metal. Just like using a Palmgren. Just a photo on my tablet to show the Palmgren, not accurate to this topic.

All things considered, I would go with the AXA and live with the smaller tool bit restriction. There is no practical reason for using 1/2" HSS tool bits on a small lathe.
Excellent - agree about 1/2'' tool bit - it's for the big lathes. It's just what my late father left me.

Yes - as we determined above, it will work but JUST with 3/8'' tooling. Not 1/2'' tooling - which is still acceptable to me.
I use mostly 1/2 tooling. I don't know why everyone is saying AXA is meant for 3/8.
I prefer 1/2 as it is more stout. I guess everyone figures it hangs out too much. I respectfully disagree.
it works fine.

See this post above: https://www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/need-more-tool-holders.96008/page-3#post-895965
And then this post (right below): https://www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/need-more-tool-holders.96008/post-895969

The issue is the "H" height as illustrated in the Shars diagram. As demonstrated above, the tool tip of the 1/2'' tool in AXA holder will stick out above the center line unless I grind down the tool tips to lower them. It will still work, and I may use some of them - I have about 4 planks I could grind down if I need it. The 3/8'' HSS tools should fit without any fuss and that pleases me because most of my tools I have are in that size anyway.

totally BS based on my CDCO holders. My 1/2" is no problem getting on centerline.
measurements are:
block ht 1.515
ledge for tool to sit on is .433 thick

Don't know if the shars is different, but I have plenty of space below my holder to lower it way below centerline.
