Machinist Dynapower 10x50 Vertical Mill

The Y axis moves back and forth really well.

The head seems just fine, the idiots knee broke the fall.
Well if the Y axis is cranking back and forth the yoke may be okay though the X axis nut clearly striped out of it. I would take it all apart and throughly assess the damage, it might not be that bad after all.

I am hoping. Thanks for your input.

Was he hurt?

I hope you didn't pay for this project....

I've owned a dropped lathe before and don't think I'd take on another project like that. In my case I just kept finding more stuff broken and eventually unloaded it cheap.

Nah, he didn't get paid... I never take money on my own jobs. That idiot was me.

My knee is all purple and swollen, I can walk on it so I didn't get it looked at. The motor landed right on.

I also tried my bestest to keep the lathe from face planting , I didn't succeed either . I had to throw a party for the boys and about 15 of us stood the lathe back on it stand . Beer was not involved in the fall , but rather on the re- lifting . :big grin:

Ouch

Do get that looked at, blood clots are a possibility even if nothing's broken.

This is why we always caution folks to be extra careful moving heavy machinery- It can go wrong in an instant

Now I may be wrong but that mill looks more like a heavier version of a BP clone.
My Sharp TMV has a 10x50 table, 3HP motor and weighs 3,300 lbs.
I think this one is in the same class.
Plus, you notice the lead screw support has an extended casting. You won't see that on a BP in my experience.
This is a pic of my lead screw support.
So, if you try Ebay you may want to look for a Sharp HD clone. Just 2 cents worth.
Good luck man That really sucks.

You aren't just whistling dixie my friend.
Many of us he probably seen heavy machinery or vehicles falling off lifts??
It can be a real eye opener.
Safety first and go very slow and methodical.

Realistically it can happen to anyone. I’ve seen even the most experienced riggers have something go wrong and tip a 100 ton machine.

When my “new” radial arm saw was delivered it was being put in the garage with a 10,000 lb. fork truck just before the apron a wheel hit a soft spot and the saw started to slip off the forks. One leg touched the ground and I thought the whole thing was going to come down in a pile.

Fortunately the operator was quick enough to react. We were able to reposition it before any damage was done. Had he not been alert and quick to react I would have had an expensive pile of broken parts.
