Looking for my perfect size hobby mill....

I have the PM-1236T gearhead so naturally I was looking at the 833T...
Of the current PM offerings, I find myself gravitating towards the 833TV. Not that I'll ever be able to afford one now. I've owned a few Chinese machines and find that I no longer have the patience, nor possibly remaining life-span to deal with them.

My 935 and 1340GT were both 3-phase and VFD controlled, and I found that I prefer that to belt/gear driven machines with single-speed motors. But that's just my personal preference.

I will post here with photos as soon as it arrives, all version of the PM-932M's are currently out of stock, good chance the PDF version is one I'll have to buy because i don't think the PDF is a feature that can be added later on. ill call PM today and fallow up.. thanks, Mike.
You are correct, if you want power down feed you have to buy it that way, its internal to the head.

Exactly what I'm looking for, a milling table for my baby drill press... all the ones I find on Amazon are cheap junk it seems. Your table looks solid..

-----> I absolutely love your drill press setup, you rock..!

also unfortunately all versions of PM-932 are out of stock or on back order, I'm calling PM today about the PDF version, I don't think that PDF can be added down the road, and that is a feature I would like at some point, I may have to order the 932 with it - if it cant be added at a later date... Mike
Milling table, check this out...

lol thanks, Its now on my wish list just waiting to see if it hits the fathers day sale ..!

PM has 9 of the 932M base models and 9 of the PDF versions due in mid July, Had a long talk with Mike at PM to pick his brain... Ill give my self a day or two and figure out which model to get and get it ordered so I don't miss out on this run.

Now I need start figuring what tooling ill need to get for the Mill, so I can machine a T-Nut for my 1236T... that way I can order it at the same time with the mill. I currently have an R8 SAE ER-40 collet set.

Thanks, Mike.

I have a Burke Millrite with the rapid down feed mechanism, I would gladly pay the extra to have a mill with a power downfeed. I know it’s a big increase in price, but trying to bore something by feel leaves a lot to be desired.

My mill is belt drive, I have a VFD on it and it’s nice being able to dial in the speed you want. I still need to change belt settings when going to drastically different size cutters, or changing material, but having variable speed is nice. If you plan on doing much in aluminum, I would get something with the highest spindle speed you can get. The small cutters like a lot of rpm in aluminum.

Just my thoughts, I love R8 tooling and R8 collets, they make life so much easier, if you look on Amazon they have R8 ER40 collet chucks which would allow you to use the ER40 Collet set you already have. I have and like R8 end mill holders as well.

My mill has the Power Down Feed, it was one of the features on my list when I was looking.

Those end mill holders with the locking screw are for keeping the end mill shank from creeping down into the work right..? pretty sure that was what Mike from PM was steering me towards...

with the pm932 you are getting into the realm where endmill holders may be needed, for smaller end mills the collet will hold the tool fine but you will have the grunt to cross that barrer, for the smaller stuff the er or 5c type collet works and is convenient.

Its not just the screw, the end mill fits very tightly, no play, the link I left was an example, spend a little more and get a good set.

Sort of like Cat 40 end mill holders for R8 machines. Typically used for heavier cuts with larger cutters. Or at least that has been my experience.
