can anyone tell me what size the lead screw for the cross slide is on a 4003? I've researched for days and come up with only a head ache. Did a lot of measuring. lead screw measures .623" o.d. Imperial 5/8" (.625") 16mm (.630") That wasnt much help. Centerline of 2 threads is right at .100" (2.5mm). Its LH thread. Grizzly website is no help, says only "M8" (i take it that is the lead?). Grizzly's replacement parts are about $120 for the lead screw and cheap BRASS nut. I'll pass. It had .060" slop the day I brought the lathe home new from the shipper in 1999. I'd hold my head in shame if the company I owned sold a brand new lathe with slop like that. Has .100"+ slop now. Anyway, time to make the repair. I'll buy a section of good American made lead screw and hopefully find a square nut of the same size in 660 bronze, instead of the cheap brass junk that is in the cross slide right now. Can anyone help me with the info I need so I can look for a place to order the new stuff from (does anyone have a good recommendation for a US company?)
