12X36 minimum,with 13/14X40 being a sweet spot for barrels but.....
A VG quality small bench top model like a 9X22 may very well be a "keeper" in gun world. Wish I had one... there's a lot of small tedious work,not to mention work on handloading "stuff" that could keep the small lathe paying for itself. Good luck with your search.
