Dorian tool post

My guess then would be that threaded barrel is threaded to the aluminum riser. It has to seperate at that seem somehow.

Put one part in the vise and try spinning apart with a large wrench of choice.

i found a PDF on it and the pictures show it both with and with out the riser but no info on separating them

If the riser was factory installed it might be an interference fit. Do you have any qualms about chucking the *entire* tool post in the 4 jaw and facing the aluminum riser off?

have you taked the 4 SHCS out from the top ?

i thought of doing that but wasn't sure what I would run into and hate to destroy it. as is if I cant use it I can probably sell it or trade it for one I can use. There seem to be quite expensive and I have like 7 tool holders for it.

Maybe a swap ? Ask around for anyone with an Aloris AXA post and holders looking for BXA stuff . There may be a few people on here , I can think of at least one at the moment .

Yeah but that wouldn't be a fair swap for the OP, not straight up anyway! :D

These Dorian Quadra tool posts aren't the average Aloris QCTP style & they ain't cheap either! On these you can put on 4 tool holders simultaneously & lock/unlock each one independently (that's why there's 4 socket heads on top). The tool post can also be indexed (15-25 positions or something like that). Uses special tool post holders (the ends are angled).

Aloris also has a similar tool post (but I think the Dorian came out 1st for this style?)
