Deckel FP1 and accessories

You are lucky indeed. Installing the DRO is a rather painful undertaking. Not particularly difficult but lots of measuring, cutting, testing, more cutting, more measuring etc. I didn't want to drill any new holes and wanted to protect the glass scales from possibility of chips and coolant so more work.

Didn't know there was another FP1 in the Seattle area! And you got all the good accessories to boot, you should be able to make just about anything. You did a similar thing with the DRO that I did, I tried to keep it so that I could use the trip dogs if I wanted to.

What did you do for tablet mounting? Right now I just have a crappy desk clamp holder clamped to the tool tray, in the future I'd like something more solid and moveable at the same time. I have an idea of what to do, but it's nice to see others' work too.

There’s a few around here I believe.
Are you a Seattle metalhead?

I posted separately how I’m holding the touch dro. It’s likely the same as your approach. I’m not thrilled with it. But it works.

Ah yes, I found the post, same system essentially. I am planning to build a pivoting control station similar to what some of the later Deckels have, since I need to mount my VFD controls there rather than on a floating pendant like I have now.

I am a Seattle metalhead, live in Ballard, had my FP1 since 2020 when it was shipped from the east coast. I didn't get any accessories with it, just the machine as it stands and a handful of MK4 tooling, including the SO adapter and a whole rack of collets which have been my primary mill holders thus far.

First project was of course the VFD to run the 3 phase motor, then the DRO.

All the Deckels are getting some love, Nice! On my two dial FP-1, I designed a logic circuit to use the factory buttons to control the VFD, so it operates just like the original control box ( two speeds and stop).

Thanks for the reply, that is exactly what I would like to do. Keep the original two speeds, just use the VFD to do that and use the original switches such that it is really is original in look and feel. Might I ask some more details on how you went about it? I am in way over my head with this stuff......so, bear with me.
