Clausing 4904 refresh

Lifted the bed assembly off the chip tray and pedestals and loaded on a workbench.

Unbolted the standoffs and propped up on blocks.

Set the standoffs aside for now while I prep the bed for painting.

Cleaned up the tail stock end stand cabinet. Fixed a bent hinge, gave everything a scrubbing and put liner on the shelves.

Motor got rewired from 110v to 220v
Some confusion involved due to the "TAPE" wording used, took some time to soak in that the implication was to join the wires by tapping together.

Output from the motor goes to another junction box where the power and rotery switch come in.

Took some time and mapped everything out on paper to help me keep everything clear in my mind as I've always been a bit dyslexic when it comes to wiring.
Once I had a clear picture I mocked everything up on top of the stand for a test run.

Worked as it should in forward and reverse, no magic smoke escaped so removed the connections and went on with the install.
Used some rubber pads sandwiched between washers on both sides of the motor mount to provide some vibration dampening.

Installed the counter shaft assembly next.

Need to get everything aligned and adjusted then tighten things up.
This is what it started out looking like.

Bed and chip tray back in place. Factory uses a gasket between the rear pedestal foot and the chip trap, which I replaced. If I were to do again I would change around the assembly process and use silicon seal as opposed to a gasket. Reason being that it would be easier to do the bed leveling at this stage.
Clausing procedure has the lathe bolted to the floor and leveled via tweaking the factory foot pad bolt setup.
I leveled at the rear bed pedestal foot by using bolt torque to compress the gasket but would prefer to use shims.

Headstock, QCGB, banjo and other parts got installed.

Belts and motor pedestal parts in place.

To be continued.
