CC Permit?

Here in Nebraska you have to take an 8-hour course and qualify on the range. Classes usually run around $125 then another $15 or so for range time. Then a $100 application fee at the sheriff's office ($50 for renewal) and it's good for a period of five years.

It so happens I'm hosting a CC class in mid June that will qualify participants for both the Nebraska and Utah permits.

When I got mine, it cost $140 for the state plus the class was $110 and it took 10 hrs. for the class. I just renewed mine online for $70 with no class time. I think the dropped the class requirement to five hours for the initial license now.

live in maryland unless retired cop or know someone with power in this communist state your not getting one have 500 ton capt. lic. with master of towing endosement pushed 50,000 barrel jet fuel barge into military bases had every kind of background checks you can imagine payed 500 filling fees turned down with no reason giving told me to get a lawyer

It's a good thing you don't need ID to vote because that would reeeeeely be trampling on your rights. Here in CT you need to get a town permit first (they do all the background checks) then you apply for the state permit which is just about automatic. Problem is (even though this is a shall issue state) that if the police chief in your town is against CC, he'll throw every roadblock you can imagine in your way. So, depending on your town you may go thru hell for a year or more whole people a mile away across the town line get rubber stamped. I know guys that have moved to a different town just to get a permit.

This thread is political in nature to begin with, and easily crosses the line on discussion of politics that we have, and all agreed to. There are enough comments now to close the thread, but I won't if the discussion becomes more factual than opinionated in nature.

I'm going to have to disagree, the OP was merely asking a question about the variances between states on the procedures to obtain a CHL. Granted, discussions like this tend to go off the rails pretty quickly if folks don't play by the rules. IMO, why not just remove the questionable posts instead of killing the whole thread?

In NJ it's near impossible currently. The standard to achieve one is "justifiable need"

In practice that means that less than 1200 permits are issued right now in a state with over 1 million gun owners.

You have to convince both your local chief law enforcement officer and a local judge that you can meet the standard so in practice only those politically connected can get one.

FL is not hard have had one in the past. Take the course at a gun show and fill out the paperwork. Get a passport photo and fingerprinted and send in form with a check. If all passes you get your permit. Makes it nice too since you don't have the 10 day waiting period on hand guns.

That was being as neutral as possible on a topic that I'm personally passionate about. I tried to present the state of affairs as clearly as possible.
