Anyone make their own carnauba wax?

perhaps of interest is this article. i have a copy i could send photos of. i believe this article lists sources of many hard to find natural ingredients.

Yes, that's interesting. This excerpt is a bit of a tease, giving a feel for what the actual article might cover. Article 13 could be both interesting and useful, this excerpt has increased my appetite, but I'm hungrier than ever. ;)Maybe it looks different to subscribers, but there's no additional content to us plebes.

I have an interesting formulary book as well. It's called the "Scientific American Cyclopedia of Formulas". Printed on very thin paper, at first glance it looks like a bible. It has formulas for just about everything under the sun -- many of which contain stuff that would get you arrested if you tried to sell the products today!

The book came out of a college library that was purging their collection of long-obsolete technical books. I also scored a 3-volume set that has some historical interest.
I love it! I might just need a physical copy for the bookshelf.

Here is the first page and the sources. M&T is much more like a boom than a magazine. Beautifuly made and done. I highly recommend supporting it and buying a copy of you think it looks interesting. It's nothing like other 'woodworking' rags.

For a few examples, recipe entries in the Gin sub-category of alcoholic beverages include the use of "spirits of turpentine" and/or "creosote". Some things to add to your collection of mixed-drink ingredients (not!).

In addition to the publication date (1921), I noticed that it was published by the Evangelical Press -- so yeah, there's a reason it looks like a bible!

Creosote and distilled terpenes somehow do seem suitable for taking a shortcut from moonshine to gin. Just not very healthy!

Citrus oil A.K.A. limonene, sure. I use it as a relatively-benign solvent for stuff like PSA. It actually may be naturally-sourced (??). Creosote? Nope!

Citrus oil also might be suitable as one of those slow-evaporating solvents for the carnauba wax stuff. To circle back around to the OP :).
