Anyone else seeing more odd facebook marketplace pricing?

I’ve seen that $1 but looked and it was some price, not $1. So it was a come on :(
Yep, seen that too. I bypass those as well as “free”. Its usually just a “hook” to get you to open the ad….greasy. Not someone I want to deal with….same as car dealers listing things as a private seller and when you look at the pics, its clearly a used car dealer.

Agree: one more thing Zuck needs to fix
I don’t do Faceplant so I’m talking about CL mostly. I was on Offer Up for a while and it was full of bozo’s and scammers so I got rid of it. The prime example was this guy who had a ton of old machinists tools all with that make me an offer and don’t low ball garbage. Most of it he had no idea what they were called so how in the world would he know what it’s worth? If I remember right he inherited it from a dead relative so WTH? I always price things relative to what I paid for it not what the current price on eBay (without looking at the completed item price).

As @ChazzC has mentioned, people often post things when they have multiples and don't know what the listed price should be.
As far as a "hook" goes, it is a simple mouse click back. Doesn't seem that hard to me.
I use FBM a lot for buying and selling. I used to use CL, but that has all but dried up, plus CL is full of scammers. At least with FBM, you can see who you are dealing with.

Well thats something I’ve never been able to do. I guess I’ve been lucky because not being a haggler I’ve run into some great deals and even sold a couple of things that the guys were great. Showed up when they said and communicated well.

Nah, the vast majority of th “$1” or “free” I’ve ever looked at are people just trying to get you to open their ad.

No thank you.

You experiences may be different though, but thats mine. So I just scroll past when I see those now. To me, they’re just ine wasters and every year I’ve got less and less time to waste….;)

Sorry but isn't opening the ad the whole point of posting something for sale whether it's at a listed price or best offer?

List what you want for it, interested buyers will open it.

pretty simple to be honest and above board about it.

Its also faster and simpler for both seller and buyer.

Why would I open an ad thats deceptive from the get go? Why would I want to deal with soneone who’s already demonstrating a deceptive attitude?

They want to play games? Fine.

I don’t play games. I’d much rather deal with a straight shooter. Those listing with the practices discussed here are not straight shooters.

I can give my experience with a FREE ad. The first and only time I posted on MP I went through the whole process with pictures and posted a price in my ad. I got hammered with people wanting to come pick up a FREE truck with snowplow. I went back and tried to see where I went wrong and fix the price line. Know how to do it on CL but couldn't figure it out. I just replied asking them to read the whole ad. Never heard back from those that can't read . I haven't posted any more ads on MP since.

I never typed in Free in the price line, instead of sending me back to a unfilled line FB just posted free.

In my area I see multiple ads that say free and have a price in the ad. Apparently I'm not the only one that made that mistake. I don't see it as something only scammers do.

For my area I have better luck with CL over MP as both a buyer and seller. My friend says his wife finds it the other way around. She and I don't look at the same things. I think more women are comfortable posting on MP than CL.
