3 Jaw D1-4 Chuck

It seems that ideally it is better to have the faces touching and any clearance on the taper. I would prefer my chucks to run out rather than wobble.
 
@Parlo the taper is intended to couple the power for the headstock. the cams are not intended to transfer that power. I agree runout is better than wobble, but the taper needs to be tight for the headstock to be used as intended.
 
One more thing that is excellent about this thread, the title speaks to the point and is likely to be returned by the next pilgrim's search.
Wouldn't it be nice . . .
