2023 Pass Around Box Mega Thread

I'm starting to worry about the pass around box. I have a bin full of loot set aside for next time it comes around, but I am always a bit worried that there won't be any room. If we keep mailing this 70 lb box around and each person only takes an ounce or two of stuff, how are the contents ever going to turn over? You guys need to take more stuff, make more room in the box. At this point, it's not a show generosity to only take what you touch, like a formal holiday dinner. Take more out. Make more room. Get your flat rate box worth of loot for your trouble, and refresh the contents a bit!
 
@pontiac428 - i completely agree and if i could have used some of the physically larger stuff in the box i would have kept it. I too have a pile of stuff set aside and sent everything i could fit.
 
I did take some bigger stuff so I could put more in.

Maybe we should have a suggested minimum weight to remove? Or, there could be designated stops to cull some of the less useful items?

Could possibly pack small flat rate boxes with this stuff to be gifted to members who want a grab bag.

I hear you. I have an awesome tool that is too big for my needs, but both times I could not fit it. I know it will go quickly.
there's not much in that box that I need.
The problem is you never know who might need it.
 
Or, some of the good beginner stuff could be pulled out and sent to new members. I’m thinking small pieces of materials, HSS bits, tool and work holding stuff, taps and drill bits.

I’ve gotten so many good items included with tools I’ve bought I’d totally be willing to pass some along.

Maybe it’s a different program.

Problem is once you’ve been at this for a while you have way more stuff than you can use.

PAB is great for sending some of this stuff along to others. But as our numbers grow the box stays the same size.

Would be nice to have another box that always goes from members who have lots of stuff to those who need more. Would have to be okay to stuff empty space with rags so there’s room for recharge.

Could set up a trade thread. Post what you have to trade and each person pays for a flat rate box one way to swap goods. I would be interested in that. I have bought a few machinist lots and have tooling that's far too big for my machines as well as duplicate items.

When the box gets to me I'll probably clear it out and repack it.
