This shot was a cpl months ago. CF in the barrel channel. I turned a mandrel the barrel profile+ desired clearance. I think it was .060" larger than brrl (CRS).
Wrapped/cured the CF.... then split it lengthwise. Clearanced the forearm on a BP, dropped in the liner. Trimmed edges.
Holymolyrocknrolly did it stiffen the forend of the factory tupperware stock. I've tried the carbon arrows, they don't even come close to what this CF liner does....
R700 SPS with a fluted CDL takeoff brrl screwed on. Redfield 4-12. Rig has never seen a jacketed bullet outside the factory. Shoots 130g cast into bragging groups, with starting JB book loads of Varget.
started work on the steel QCTP holders. First step was cutting the end of a piece of 1 1/2" thick scrap in the band saw. It was a bit tricky to hold, but the trashcan helped (sort of).
Had a slow moment at work today. Finally got around to making a pin for my Reed 406 vise. Of course the tapered pin was long gone and replaced with a bolt when I got it.
The taper was pretty beat up as a result. I reamed it out with a random tapered ream I had. Turning it by hand left me with some chatter that I cleaned up with a lap and compound. Turning a tapered lap made my pin a perfect fit! The pin is 4140 PH. I bought the vise and built the stand over two years ago, it’s going to be nice using it without the jaw swiveling.
Not a metal project but used a lot of hand tools. A garbage can/tote box which we saw on our trip in 2019 to the east coast. We saw 6 sided and 8 sided versions on the south coast of Nova Scotia. Made from pallets, the light weight version which the top deck is nailed to blocks instead of 2X4. Stripped the deck off a few pallets and some cutting and fitting. The door is held up/down with a couple gas cylinders, they are set up to be over center at both positions. It will hold 2 large Roughneck easily.
