Of the vises that I've fixed or cleaned up, the most often needed fix is a new thrust plate behind the handle cross. I hate when I have to turn the handle unnecessarily before the jaw starts to move
Aaron
maybe he might find he has what he needs right in his junk bin if he worked in imperial ...
maybe .... or maybe he has his junk arranged in metric ... who knows... I did see a few Porches and VW (nice old) in his garage...
so maybe I should shut up...
I have offended the gods! The offending bastard will be flogged, and flogged again until he gets it through his thick skull...
And you are correct... everything I bought from the gentleman that passed away, was all imperial... so I should have something I can use in that box...
EDIT: Because not everyone might get the initial comment... My daughter is finishing her Masters on Character Animation... We love to watch a lot of animation movies, specially those from Pixar, Walt Disney, Dreamworks, Studio Ghibli etc. And we are always quoting or singing the songs from those... Silly, but we have done this forever...
Could not resist to make the comment because it reminded me of a scene with Cortes (from the movie - The Road To El Dorado)... I will correct the comment as the actual quote should be like this: Cortes: "My crew was as carefully chosen as the disciples of Christ, and I will not tolerate stowaways. You will be flogged. And when we put into Cuba to re-supply, God willing, you will be flogged some more. And then enslaved on the sugar plantations for the rest of your miserable lives."
Rescued this one from a welder. Paint was scorched, anvil had burn melts, jaws were burned. I was able to polish up pivot locks and handle, and put the vise on my mill and resurface the anvil. Made brass, aluminum, plastic, and smooth steel jaws for it that can either be bolted on or held in place with magnets.
Man your vises are so pretty... It makes me wanna do mine over... Oh maybe not.. I didn't realize that this was a fashion show..
I'll have to make my next rebuild purty.
