Does anyone make a jig for steel 80% 1911 frames.

I do have a lathe and milling machine and have done 6 or 7 80% ar lowers.

You absolutely don't need a jig to do "80%" 1911 frames if you have a mill. I know someone makes the jigs, but can't recall who. Again, you don't need one.

Jig for a aluminum frame would be the same

At risk of sounding facetious, Kurt makes one that will do 19/2011s...

They nice thing about a jig is that it will hold the 1911 frame square to the table/vice.

There are fancy 1911 jigs with mechanisms for cutting rails. For a mill it would be nice to just have a jig to hold the frame square.

Oregon has outlawed 80% frames. If you want to build a 1911 I recommend doing so while you still can.

Thanks guys.....anyone with the name of a company making the jigs?

Who is making a complete jig that will hold up?

10-8 make some armorer's blocks, a pair of them will hold a 1911 in a vise. EGW makes an aluminum fixture that will also hold a frame. With a block of aluminum though you're only a couple hours away from making your own.

Agreed. When WA announced the 80% ban, I had to quickly buy a bunch of serialized receivers... just in time, because then the AR ban hit.:rolleyes::rolleyes: Two years later, and I'm less concerned about the inconvenience then I am with appearing thuggish for showing up with an 80%'er. Still do lots of gun work on the machines, just no more incompletes.

Who consistently has the best deal on steel 80% lowers
I'd suggest finding the best *quality* you can rather than the best deal. Not all frames are created equal. That said, my experience is too old to be of much use, but a couple of the frames I picked up required some machining that they shouldn't have required...
