@bigunn it shares some characteristics with a Colchester Student, and a Takisawa. Pictures of all the badges and plates would be helpful.
Although they make great machinery as a rule, Taiwanese manufacturers used tto often omit manufacturer, and sometimes country - this most often happened in the 1980s. After the late 90s, Contry and manufacturere was always badged.
I have never seen a genuine Japanese lathe that didn't have a prominent "Made in Japan" tag on it, and usually in more than one place.
